Forget about digging through your wallet for your TIAA Direct® debit card. Now, make purchases with a simple tap or wave using Android Pay, Apple Pay® or Samsung Pay at participating retailers.
It’s also safer because your account number is not shared—only a virtual account number to represent your info, and as soon as you make a purchase, you’ll see a payment confirmation so it’s easy to catch any suspicious activity.
|Launch your wallet app. (Download the app if necessary).||Add your debit card information.||Hold your device near the terminal at checkout.|
Your card can be added to Android Pay, Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay.
Smartphones and tablets running Android 4.4 (KitKat) or higher can use Android Pay. If you’re not sure, go to Settings, then “Android Version.”

Apple Pay® can be used on iPhone® (models 6 and up) iPad®, iPad Air® 2 and iPad mini 3™.
|Step 1: Find the “Wallet” app on your device.||Step 2: Add your card to the app. It’s as simple as taking a picture of your card. Visit Apple Pay® to learn how.||Step 3: When you’re ready to check out, look for these logos, and hold your device near the terminal to pay.|
Samsung Pay can be used on eligible Galaxy devices. Visit Samsung Pay for a current list.
|Step 1: Find the Samsung Pay on your device or downloaded at Google Play.||Step 2: Setup security features and add your card. You can use the camera to take a picture of your card. Visit Samsung Pay to learn how.||Step 3: When you’re ready to check out, look for the logo, and hold your device near the terminal to pay.|
At this time, you can add your TIAA Direct® debit card to Android Pay, Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay.
Please note: Debit cards are only issued for Interest Checking accounts. They arrive approximately 5-7 business days after opening the account.
The other steps vary by app:
Android Pay: Visit Android Device Manager to help you find, lock and erase your device.
Apple Pay®: If you have the Find My iPhone app, use it to remotely lock your device.
Samsung Pay: Visit Samsung’s Find My Mobile to help you find, lock and erase your phone.
The daily limit for mobile wallet purchases is the same as for TIAA Direct debit card purchases: $2,500.
This includes “Cash back” requests you make during your purchase.
